For the second time, we attended a Star Trek convention, and not because we're Star Trek fans.
This time, we went to see George Takei. We've both been huge Howard Stern fans for years. The addition of George Takei as the Stern show announcer since they moved to Sirius is nothing short of brilliant.
The Q&A session with Takei (and two other Star Trek veterans whom I've already forgotten) was fantastic, although I'm not sure Trek fans would agree. Most of the questions directed to George had to do with his role on the Stern show, or his views on American liberties, also commonly discussed on Stern. To his credit, George tried to draw the discussion back to Star Trek as much as possible. George ended his appearance with a throaty performance of "God Bless America." He is THE MAN. (Tony has a sound byte of this up on his blog - click here to listen.)
The price of admission to the convention was well worth the opportunity to hear George Takei speak. The photo op was hot, too!

Hey now!
