Book Club

Here at joeparadox.com, we aim to bring you the finest in mindless blogging entertainment. All that is going to change, soon, with the addition of a feature that involves actual thought! Just to show you that we're not all television and celebrities 'round these parts.

I'm working on adding a message/bulletin board feature to my website which will function as a book club. Back in Buffalo, I belonged to a book club which met monthly. I enjoyed it. Now, the evil DC traffic and my distaste for socializing makes book club organization or participation unlikely. I've been missing the rich and interesting dialogue that can only result from many people reading the same piece of text with different eyes. I also like the idea of things like chapter threads, where people can discuss the book as they read, instead of all at the end, without being spoiled. Sorry but wine and cheese will have to be on your own.

So, let's get a tentative head count. If you think you'd like to participate in an online book club with me, leave a comment. Ask your real-life and cyber friends, too. The more the merrier, no?

I would like to join no pressure on line book club. Sounds perfect for the woking mom

Yay! And, yes, that's the key! No pressure! You participate when you want and when you can. No ruler slapping if you don't read, and if you don't show up, no one will be mad that there's no bread dip.

mmm...dip.

I'll join. Though I'd be much more likely to participate if I were being rewarded with food.

Real-life friends? You mean talk to other humans? Face-to-face? Ha! I scoff at the idea. (Actually, I cower in fear. Scoffing is just a defense mechanism.)

Hey, I'm in.

Hey now, does this mean you people are going to force me to finally figure out how to install this bulletin board software onto my website?

Me and my big mouth!

I'm in---I have beenn looking for things to do at the pool this summer!!! Will there be rewards?? You know how I love a good prize for my efforts??? I'm thinking venti coffee visits throughout the summer months.

I will join despite the lack of dip. Actually, I will make my own dip and since I don't have to share there'll just be more for me!

I'm definitely interested...even though I currently have 7 (yes seven!) books piled beside my bed waiting to be read. *curses reality t.v. and all the pretty boys that take up my reading time*

I'm in too!

I'm still chuckling over the fact that you're creating a message board about yourself. I know, I know, it's a book club. But it would be funnier if it was called Openly Danielle or something and people joined so they could talk about you.

I'm in, but I'm still working on Owen Meany, so I have to wait until it's done.

OK, well, all I did was opt for the "redsilver" skin for the book club board, and I got a FATAL ERROR..this was AFTER registration....now, I can't get in no matter what...and I never did a SINGLE posting! All because of the damned option of "redsilver" format....I shoulda known...

Sounds perfect!!! I love checking in with you Danielle, and I would love to do some summer reading. Do we get to enjoy a nice glass of wine while reading?

I don't know if I'm too far down the blog post list for anyone to find this, but I'm interested in the book club. I'm an elem school librarian and believe it or not, I don't read as much as I used to!
