YAY! A great night on American Idol. It's about g.d. time. Except for Chris' ascot and Paris' flight attendant costume and everything about Kellie Pickler, the night of The Great American Songbook was a total success. Who knew Rod Stewart was such a riot? I loved how he was all, "YOu're fabulous! You're wonderful! Look at my cute smiley kid!" instead of trying to offer his nuggets of wisdom to the contestants. That's the kind of celebrity coaching I want to see on American Idol.
Other than the fantastic performances from everyone except Pickler, the highlight of the show had to be Paula's rambling, incoherent comments from the judges' table.
Paula, on Ace's falsetto: "That's your back pocket token to whatever you want." (Wait. I thought his back pocket token was that beanie cap.)
Paula, on one of the performances: "...contemporizing..."
Paula, on Katharine McPhee: "I feel like I'm watching you for the first time falling in love with the essence of who you are...Congratulations, you're eloquent...elegant."
Bewitched? No. Bothered? A bit. Bewildered? Definitely.
