No, I don't do anything but watch reality television, thank you for asking.
Wimmins, you is done. If a Y-chrom doesn't win this thing, I will be shocked.
I take back everything I said about Bobby Bennett. LOVED. HIM. I'm actually saving tonight's episode of American Idol in the DVR so I can go back and watch his performance over and over and over. I mean, if you're up against talent like Taylor Hicks (singing my all-time favorite Elton John song) and Ace Young and Elliott Yamin, you might as well go balls to the wall and sing your face off. Bobby, if you don't get something out of this, you can come and live at my house, all-inclusive, if you promise to regale me with "Copacabana" and other Barry Manilow songs nightly.
I also take back what I said about Patrick Hall. I liked him, I really liked him! I'd like to see him behind a piano, singing a soft ballad. I don't think he's going home tonight.
I do think David Radford is done, and much to my chagrin, my beloved Bobby. *sniff*
Kevin Covais and Will Makar are so adorable, I want to Shrinky Dink them and let my cats bat them about the house.
I just don't get Sway. What am I missing? Gedeon has a great voice, but he's so affected, it's disturbing. If Stepford wives were male and from the 'hood, they'd be Gedeon McKinney.
Oh, and I take back that Chris Daughtry is no Bo. He's definitely as talented, but as Tony said, just not as polished yet. Bucky's not quite there, but I don't hate him.
My picks for top 6: Taylor, Ace, Chris, Elliott, Patrick, and I'm sticking with Kevin.
And yours?
Holy smokes, that was a great show! I laughed so hard in parts that I cried. I only disliked two of the guys! And I love more than 6 of them.
In no particular order, here is my "dream [tag?] team."
First things first, I must get this off my chest. HOLY SHIT ACE IS SO FUCKING HAWT! So I wasn't feeling the whole (1) Ace Young thing before because he's one of those pretty boys who knows he's pretty, which is a turnoff. But that was until tonight when he sang "Father Figure" by George Michasel. That was such a great song choice.
My little (2) Will Makar sang Michael Jackson. *boo* *hiss* I thought he did okay, but the song did not show off his voice at all. I really need him to be in the top 12, I'm worried about him. I heart him like crazy.
(3) Chris Daughtry is really good. He doesn't make me want to rip off his clothes, but his voice is very nice.
Speaking of nice voices, (4) Elliot Yamin was a surprise tonight. I hadn't previously heard him sing. But in all seriousness, I prefer him with my eyes closed. (tm Simon). His looks really skeeve me out. In fact, he reminds me so much of that scary guy Hans Klopek from "The Burbs." I know that's really mean, but I can't help it.
I'm honestly really struggling with who should fill out my Top 6 Boys.
I guess I'm going to go with (5) Kevin Covais. I've always thought he was adorable, but tonight he did better than I thought he would. He's definitely not the best, but there's just something about him that makes you want to root for him.
And (6) Taylor Hicks is mad talented, but I find his Joe Cocker schtick highly annoying. I mean did you see him at the beginning of the show doing all those crazy spastic poses. Just relax dude and act normal, please.
It breaks my heart not to be be able to include Patrick Hall or David Radford in this list.
I really like Patrick's voice, but his song choice was not good for him. Patrick is the love child of Tom Green and Clay Aiken. And sings as well as the two of them combined. And David, whoa, I didn't realize how good looking he is! He's the new and improved John Stevens, IV, but then again, do we really need a new and improved JSIV? I was fine with the original.
I liked Bobby Bennett and Gedeon McKinney, but only for the entertainment value. I can't take either one of them as serious singers since they made me laugh throughout their performances. Bobby is precious, especially for a 19 year old and him squeezing the crap out of Ryan Seacrest makes me hope he survives at least one more round so that maybe he can do that again next week. Gedeon gave off a little fey vibe to me, as well.
I did not like Bucky Covington. I loved his song choice and I appreciate his type of music, but I agree with Simon when he said that you can hear a lot of guys who sound like him in bars all across the country. His voice isn't different enough or good enough.
I hated with all that is in me Jose "Sway" Penala. What in the hell did Randy and Paula (and the rest of the audience) hear? I thought that was by far the most atrocious performance ever aired on American Idol with exception of Keith of the "Like a Virgin" fame audition. I don't know maybe there is something wrong with me, but I don't get it. I had to cover my ears the entire time.
I"m sorry to tell you this, but Bobby Bennett is done. As much as I too LOVE Barry Manilow, I don't think the teenage voting audience is going to be "down with that" if you'll excuse the vernacular.
I also watch nothing but reality TV much to the chagrin of my very well read and literate husband. I also read but the pull of reality TV is just too strong. I can't get enough of it.
Taylor Hicks will probably have a recording contract before the show is out. On my site, I predicted that Paris and Taylor would be the last two with Paris finishing first. But now I'm pretty sure Taylor HIcks will get a recording contract and have to leave the show. . .of course I could be wrong.
And what's up with that guy with the long hair. He can't stop staring at the camera. If he weren't serenading us, I'd think he wants to eat our Livers with a nice Chianti and some fava beans.
Oh Dan .. I was just about to EMAIL YOU!!!!
My faves are as follows -
Chris, Elliott, Taylor, Ace, Kevin and Gedeon - and YES GEDEON SCARES ME!!!!
But, based on last night's performances - I did NOT like Pat's song choice - I do want him to stay.
I want Sway - Bobby and/or Bucky off my screen.
Did you hear about Melissa's reaction to Bobby??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
