WWTID?

Last week, I ordered a Xmas gift for a friend from one of my favorite online merchants. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to throw a few little treats for myself in the shopping cart. I had her gift sent directly to her house, and the rest of the order was shipped to me.

Today when I got home, there were two boxes. The contents were exactly the same. The company double-shipped my order but only charged me once.

Which leaves me in a quandary. I have three basic options: 1) ship the items back to the company, informing them of their mistake, 2) keep the items for myself, or 3) give the stuff away to people I like a whole bunch.

I've already made my decision, but I'm interested to hear from the Internets. So, my pretties...what would YOU do?

Ship at back to them, and insist they reimburse you for shipping. I'm sure their auditing department will catch their mistake in a few weeks' time.

I say give them away! It would cost you shipping to get them sent back and they wouldn't appreciate it.

Anything you get for free is their stupid mistake and loss. I know that I always get so excited when they forget to charge me for the numerous cases of Diet coke under my shopping cart. Plus, you probably already know what a deviant I am considering our "Claires" days!!!

Email them letting them know of their mistake. They may get back to you and let you keep the mistake (this has actually hapened to me before), or they'll pay for the shipping back to them. Or they should, anyway. That's what I've done in the past, except in one instance, when a company sent me two of something by accident and I kept the second.

My mother once trudged back into the grocery store to return 3 cucumbers that she realized she hadn't paid for.

Keeping them is the equivalent of stealing, in my humble opinion, even if it was the store's mistake.
