Growing up, one of my favorite things about Christmas was my stocking. I always loved the little goodies Santa would leave me much more than the big gifts. I think it's because I've always felt that the smallest gestures of giving are the best ones. The lovely Pleather of Vegan Freaks reminded me of this, which made the lovely Pleather even more damned lovely.
So here's some ideas for stocking stuffers to please the vegans (and non-vegans!) in your life...
Who wouldn't want to nibble on some delicious dark chocolate while sipping Silknog? My favorite brand is Chocolove. I'm going to marry the dark chocolate with cherries and almonds bar as soon as it's legal in my state. And be sure to visit Nell's site, Vegan Review. She did a kick-ass job reviewing all kinds of vegan chocolate. Also kick-ass is the chocopalooza at Vegan Chai. I'm sure no one would complain if Santa left a few of these chocolate bars in their stocking.
If chocolate bars aren't enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, try the delicious morsels made by Laura's Wholesome Junk Food. I'm enjoying the lemon vanilla nuggets right now, and if someone doesn't come and HIDE THESE THINGS FROM ME, I'M GOING TO EAT THE ENTIRE CONTAINER.
Santa always put some fun little cosmetics in my stocking, too. I've already mentioned my unnatural love for LUSH, but there's so many more...
Dr. Bronner's soaps - Almond, lemon, lavender, peppermint. These bars last a long time and are great even for sensitive skin.
Kiss My Face - There are few products by Kiss My Face that I don't like, except for a few of their soaps.
I'm a big fan of hair products by Alba Botanica and Pureology. You can find Alba products at most health food stores, and I've seen the Pureology line (which I think is only for color-treated hair) at Target.
In this entry at Vegan Chai, my separated-at-birth-vegan-twin turned me on to the vegan lip balms by Crazy Rumors. Tony will be happy to know that I can now satisfy my coffee craving without the caffeine. (Trust me, you don't want to see me hyped up on caffeine. It's not pretty.) And since we're talking about my friend at Vegan Chai, go here and here and for more ideas and reviews of vegan cosmetics that would make really good stocking stuffers.
If you're in the mood to splurge a bit, Origins and Aveda carry wonderful vegan cosmetics as well as skin and hair care products. Origins also makes the softest and best makeup brushes on the planet.
I really hate commercial toothpastes. We use the orange spice toothpaste by JASON. It's fluoride-free and tastes yummilicious.
